(almost) failure

The first day of my challenge and I almost didn't make it.  Life happened yesterday and the time I thought I would get to craft, I didn't.  I thought I'd have some extra time last night, before my board meeting, to do a little crochet.  Instead, I had just enough time to eat my dinner.  Then, after my board meeting, I attended a reception and didn't get home until late.  Migraine struck on the drive home, but I managed to crochet a couple of rounds on a padded hanger cover I keep in my purse for those fifteen minute waits we all have.

Today, I'm waiting for my muscle relaxer to kick in before I sit and start to work on my daughter's sweater.  I need to start working on it, because I have to pick up an ton of stitches around the neck for the hood.  And Lord knows that hood isn't going to knit itself!

I would at least like to get the shoulders seamed and possibly the first row or two of the hood started.  My house, unfortunately, also needs some attention.  I've got to do a little here and there, though I doubt my back will allow for much more today.

Staring at my computer screen isn't getting anything done any faster.  Time to get a move on....or at least a shuffle.

Inspiration

So, I've been reading a bunch of knitting blogs lately and I've become inspired.  Inspired to write a blog.  As the title suggests, however, I'm not as clever as the other blogs I've been reading.  So I am just going to write what comes out.

Currently, I am working on knitting a cardigan for a baby-on-the-way.  It's a pattern I've made before, but in crochet.  This is the first time knitting it.  It's actually going pretty well, though I think I messed up on my gauge in the beginning.  It's too late now.  The baby shower is this Saturday and I'm only on the back.  I still have the front left to knit, the sleeves and the button band.  Not to mention blocking (which I've never done) and sewing together.  We'll see.  He may just end up with this cardigan as a happy birthday gift instead.  That would be okay too, as he's due April 1, and I'm making it a little big so he can wear it in the fall/winter (assuming I got the gauge right, which I doubt.  oh well).

I'm sure this blog will cover more than just my knitting projects but that's where I'm going to start.  I have several other things going on in my life.  Knitting is just my most recent craft addiction.  I also have been addicted to crochet, embroidery (as in dish towels) and cross stitch.  I'm sure all those crafts will make an appearance at some point as I have a weekly crochet group that I host and I've got a cross stitch stocking or two I'm going to have to make.  Ugh, not to mention a birth announcement or two I've got to get done.  Darn, I'd forgot about those.  For some reason, I took it upon myself to make Christmas stockings and birth announcements for the babies in my life, which is all fine and good for the first baby, but when the brother or sister comes along, I've set a precedent which I still have to fulfill.  Luckily, right now, there are only two siblings missing stockings.  Unfortunately, both siblings have had a couple Christmases already.  I'm falling behind.

So for now, here's my craft post.  I told you, I'm just not that clever (in the writing department) so welcome.  Sit and stay a while.
